R&D Program Manager

CarbonSix is a Robotics AI startup that has completed Series A funding. At this stage of increasing technological maturity and investment scale, we are hiring dedicated personnel to manage large-scale government R&D projects including TIPS, IITP, and Ministry of Industry initiatives.

This role is far more than administrative work. You will directly understand robotics and AI technologies, collaborate with research teams to plan projects, and solve diverse operational challenges that arise in the research environment. Initially, you will manage both project planning and research operations, and as project scale expands, your role will become increasingly specialized and expanded.

How you will make an impact:
  • Lead the lifecycle of high-impact government R&D projects (e.g., TIPS, IITP, MOTIE) by aligning funding opportunities with CarbonSix’s long-term technology roadmap.

  • Architect and draft winning proposals by synthesizing complex Robotics and AI research into persuasive, well-structured grant applications.

  • Oversee end-to-end project execution, managing everything from strategic budget allocation to regulatory compliance and milestone tracking across concurrent projects.

  • Act as a bridge between technical research teams and government agencies, ensuring seamless communication of progress, challenges, and breakthroughs.

  • Cultivate strategic partnerships with government bodies, academic institutions, and industry leaders to expand our R&D ecosystem.

  • Build scalable operational systems that streamline the interface between core research activities and administrative requirements.

What we are looking for:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field.

  • 1+ years of hands-on experience in planning or executing government-funded R&D projects.

  • Exceptional technical writing skills, with the ability to produce high-quality proposals, reports, and technical content.

  • Strong proficiency in managing project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.

  • The ability to deeply grasp Robotics and AI concepts and translate them for diverse audiences.

  • A "builder" mindset: comfortable with ambiguity and capable of creating structure where none exists.

  • Experience with Intellectual Property (IP) management and patent filing processes.

Nice to have:
  • Direct experience with Korean R&D frameworks (TIPS, IITP, NRF, etc.).

  • Experience coordinating multi-party consortiums and inter-institutional agreements.

  • Background in Robotics, AI, or deep-tech sectors.

  • Skill in project management tools (Jira, Notion, Asana) and technical marketing (blogging, IR support).

Key Reponsibilities:

A. Government Project Planning & Acquisition

  • Monitor and analyze government R&D announcements from TIPS, IITP, Ministry of Industry, SME Ministry, and other agencies

  • Identify projects that align with CarbonSix's technology roadmap and strategic goals

  • Lead proposal writing and submission, working closely with research teams to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables

  • Develop research objectives and KPIs in collaboration with technical teams

  • Prepare evaluation presentation materials and represent CarbonSix to government agencies

  • Identify and recruit consortium partners; negotiate and coordinate partnership agreements and MOUs

B. Project Execution & Post-Project Management

  • Establish detailed research budget execution plans and maintain supporting documentation

  • Process budget settlements and ensure regulatory compliance throughout project lifecycle

  • Write mid-term and final technical reports; coordinate with research teams on content and submission deadlines

  • Track and manage deliverables (publications, patents, prototypes) and ensure timely achievement of project milestones

  • Prepare for and support annual and stage evaluations as required by funding agencies

  • Manage IP filing timelines and coordinate with patent offices; maintain records of filings and registrations

  • Handle administrative closeout procedures and final reporting to government agencies

C. Robotics AI Research Operations

  • Manage research sprint schedules, milestone timelines, and key review meetings

  • Track action items and decisions from research team meetings; maintain meeting documentation

  • Procure equipment, components, software licenses, and cloud resources; manage vendor contracts and procurement processes

  • Coordinate timelines, contracts, and NDAs with external partners (universities, research institutions, partner companies)

  • Support hiring processes by drafting position descriptions and coordinating interview logistics

  • Establish and maintain team documentation systems, processes, and knowledge management

D. Strategy & Marketing Support

  • Support creation of technical blog content that explains CarbonSix's research and innovations

  • Create periodic reports and updates for investors and government institutions on project progress and technical developments

  • Conduct technology trend research relevant to robotics, AI, and applicable government priorities

  • Assist in communicating CarbonSix's technical capabilities and achievements to external stakeholders

Who You Are:
  • Technical Literacy: Ability to understand and articulate deep-tech concepts without being a researcher.

  • Systemic Thinker: Capable of structuring and leading initiatives independently in ambiguous environments.
