Why CarbonSix?

Deep technical DNA of the founding team

CarbonSix was founded by engineers and researchers with both academic depth and hands-on experience in robotics and machine learning. Our early team includes Ph.D. graduates from MIT CSAIL, Yale, SNU, and KAIST, with backgrounds spanning from robot imitation learning, reinforcement learning, computer vision, optimization-based motion planning, and mechanical design. Some of our members are also accomplished engineers from the manufacturing industry, hardened by decades of real-world experience delivering effective working solutions. Bringing the best from both academia and industry, our team’s core culture comes from the synergy between cutting-edge advances in technology and hard, disciplined engineering. We’re also advised by world-renowned experts like Prof. Russ Tedrake (MIT CSAIL, [link]) and Prof. Clément Gosselin (Université Laval, [link]).

A second-time founder with a proven exit

Our co-founder previously built SUALAB ([link]) into a deep learning-based machine vision company, which was successfully acquired by Cognex. He founded CarbonSix as his second venture, focusing on solving robotic manipulation using recent advances in machine learning and robotics. With seasoned experience in problem definition, productization, business development and execution, he brings clarity and speed to the deployment path and minimizes wasted cycles. The team is also connected to a strong network of global manufacturing customers and partners, enabling access to valuable industrial use cases from day one.

Focused on high-impact problems in real manufacturing

We’re tackling one of the hardest open problems in robotics: automating manual labor in unstructured and high-variance manufacturing environments. To solve this, we’re adopting practical solutions: computer vision that enables robots to adopt to changes in the environment in realtime, imitation learning that gives robots the technical know-how of a human laborer, and hardware as well as low-level control that can empower the robot with human-like finesse and dexterity. While these topics are areas of active research, CarbonSix is rapidly bridging the gap between research-level technology and scalable, production-grade systems. We don’t just publish cutting-edge ideas—we validate them in the field, generate revenue, and deliver measurable impact for real-world customers. This is the place to turn research into products, and theory into deployment.

Backed by leading US deep tech VCs

CarbonSix is backed by Foothill Ventures, Storm Ventures, and Zeitgeist Capital—top-tier investors based in Silicon Valley and New York ([link]). Our US headquarters is incorporated in Delaware, and we’re actively working with global manufacturers and US partners on PoCs and technical reviews. While many Korean startups flip to the US or register in Delaware, few actually close institutional rounds from US-based VCs. We’ve cleared that bar—and now have a strong strategic foothold to scale faster and go bigger across global markets.

A fast-moving, execution-focused engineering team

Founded in July 2024, CarbonSix has moved quickly; we defined the right problem, validated the solution with key customers, and are now approaching product launch within just a year. Tight feedback loops between research, engineering, deployment, and productization ensure rapid iteration and clear alignment between technical success and product value. At CarbonSix, individual ownership is real: what you build today ships tomorrow, and what you solve has direct customer impact. If you thrive in a high-velocity, outcome-driven team where good engineering meets real execution, you’ll feel right at home.
